How Hair Duplication Can Solve Hair Loss In Women

Female Hair Loss or female androgenetic alopecia is the primary cause of hair loss in adult women and has a significant impact on the patients' quality of life. Alopecia evolves from the progressive miniaturization of follicles that lead to a subsequent decrease in hair density. This leads to non-scarring diffuse alopecia having characteristic clinical, dermoscopic and histological patterns.

In spite of the high frequency of the problem and the relevance of its psychological impact, its pathogenesis is not yet fully understood. It is being influenced by several genetic, hormonal and environmental factors. In addition, the response to treatment is variable.

For women, age-related hair loss often affects the back of the head. That's why hair transplants tend to be comparatively less successful for women.

However, hair cloning or hair duplication can be the ultimate remedy to hair loss in women.

Stem cells can be extracted from the parts of the female body that has plenty of hair and can be injected into the bald areas of the scalp.

Several chemicals are also given to instruct the injected stem cells to regenerate the hair follicles.

So What Is The Basic Idea Behind Hair Cloning In Women?

The basic idea of hair duplication in women is that the healthy follicle cells or dermal papillae will be extracted from the subject from areas that are not affected by baldness and regions that are not affected by hair loss. They can be multiplied or cloned by various culturing methods, and the newly produced cells will be injected back into the bald scalp, where they will act healthy and produce hair.

What Exactly Happens?

Hair follicles are little organs that contain stem cells that help in the regeneration of these follicles of the hair.

At the base or stem of the follicle is an organ called the hair bulb. It is this part where wildly growing matrix cells gradually become hair. A little farther up is the section called the bulge. Follicle stem cells live in the bulge.

On getting the right set of chemical signals, they self renew and cell division occurs. They are not like healthy cells in which both halves become new cells that further keep splitting and developing. In this case, only one half of the follicle cell does that. The other half of the stem cell becomes a new one and stays put for future regeneration.

Women start experiencing baldness as they age. The most affected area for women is the back of their heads and also the crown.

Hair is, of course, the crowning glory of every woman. So, hair loss can be a very worrying disease. However, the ultimate holy grail to treat hair loss in women is hair duplication.

Scientists are working on using microscopic 3D printed shafts to help follicles grow in an upward direction through the scalp. However, this technique is in its research pause and is not yet available for commercial and public use.
